Harrods, Hamleys and shopping galore!

For those of you coming to spend a few weeks with us this coming summer, we are sure you are first and fore most excited about visiting England to improve your English skills (of course!). But once classes are over, there is plenty of fun to be had. And one of the best things about the afternoons and weekends? The shopping!! London offers some fantastic shopping and we make sure it is part of your excursions so everyone has the opportunity to discover the treasures to be bought.

From Oxford Street to South Kensington there is something for all tastes. And the crown jewel has to be Harrods. The huge store spans over a 5-acre site and has over one million square feet of shopping space, making it the largest department store in Europe. Its motto is “Omnia Omnibus Ubique” which translates to “All Things for All People, Everywhere”. We are sure you will find something that takes your fancy in there (although you may not want to pay the price!). Even if you don’t want to buy anything, it is certainly a sight to behold and The Food Hall alone is worth the visit.

Another spectacle in the sphere of shopping is the world’s largest and oldest toy shop – Hamleys. Located in Regent Street and spread over 7 floors, Hamleys sells more than 50,000 types of toys!

Whilst Harrods and Hamleys may be a simple spot of sight-seeing, you will not be disappointed by the huge range of both well known brands and unique boutiques that London shopping offers. So don’t forget to bring some extra pocket money for some souvenirs to take back home.
