FAQ
How do I apply?

You’ll need to complete an online application form. Make sure you have all the information to hand before you start. When you send us your completed application form, a copy will automatically be sent to the email address you supplied. You'll also be able to print a copy. Alternatively, you can download the application form in Word to your computer, complete it later and send it as an e-mail attachment to recruit@thamesvalleysummer.co.uk.

My school finishes after the start date, so Im not available for the start of the course, but I really want to be an English School Friend. What can I do?

Naturally, we would not expect you to miss the end of term at your current school. The start of our courses is very important, so it’s an advantage for you to start on the dates mentioned. However, there may be a little flexibility if you can’t start until 2-3 days later.

What happens when you receive my application form?

We’ll look through it and, if you’re successful, we’ll invite you to attend an interview at our offices in Windsor, together with a parent or guardian. Unfortunately, due to the number of applications we receive, we can’t reply to unsuccessful applicants.

What happens after the interview?

We’ll confirm the outcome of the interview by e-mail within two weeks. If successful, we’ll include further information about what happens next, and you’ll receive an official letter in the post within 28 days.

What happens on the briefing day at the centre?

You’ll meet the staff, get a tour of the school and receive more information about the course. We’ll also get a better idea of what recreation activities you like.

Who will look after me at the centre?

We have experienced residential senior staff, most of whom work in independent schools during the rest of the year. You’ll meet them all during the briefing day, and we’ll also give you their contact details at the centre closer to the start of the course. That way, you and your parents will know who to contact in an emergency.

I've read the description of the role, and I've also read all this information. Who do I contact if I have any other questions?

You can e-mail us on recruit@thamesvalleysummer.co.uk. We usually reply within 10 working days. Alternatively, you can speak to us directly by calling 01753 852 001. If you can't speak to the Director of Education & Recruitment directly, one of the recruitment team should be able to help.
