The friendly town of Leatherhead is home to St John’s School, a beautiful and traditional British boarding school. Every year, international students aged 8-14 & 14-17 join us here for our popular residential summer school courses.
Based in the friendly, bustling town of Leatherhead, St John’s School is handily placed for your weekly half-day excursions into London. A 5-minute walk takes you to the station. A 45- minute journey takes you to the heart of the capital. A trip to the coast is just as easy - no more than an hour by road.
All your needs are met at St John’s School. It has outdoor playing fields, a 25 metre indoor swimming pool and a sports hall for basketball, volleyball and five-a-side football. Accommodation is first class with single, twin or 3-4 bedded rooms. English School Friends are on hand throughout the day too, helping with your conversational English.
A multi-million pound development has recently been completed. This incorporates a 370-seat theatre, two superbly equipped art studios plus a computer laboratory with some 70 industry-standard PCs.
Students joining us for our summer school courses stay in the St. John’s boarding houses, which offer accommodation in single, twin or 3-6 bedded rooms. All the boarding houses are located close to each other and to the main buildings of the school, and students are able to socialise and relax while they practice their English in the comfortable and attractive common rooms.
The town of Leatherhead is surrounded by the beautiful English countryside, as it sits in the heart of the Thames Valley. The school itself is a short walk from the town centre and is 30 km from central London. There are frequent trains to the capital (Victoria and Waterloo stations) with a journey time of 45 minutes. Heathrow and Gatwick airports are both less than 35 km away. Brighton and the south coast is less than an hour by road.
With its fantastic location and easy transport links, students joining us for residential courses at St. John’s School will benefit from a number of excellent excursions, designed to give them an understanding of English culture and history.
The attractions visited vary for each course, and may include trips to the Sealife Centre in Brighton, the British Museum, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Museum of London, Natural History Museum, Science Museum and the National Maritime Museum in London, along with Canterbury Cathedral and a visit to a college of Oxford or Cambridge University.
A meeting and transfer service by private coach between London Heathrow airport and St John's School, Leatherhead is available on published course dates for £55 per transfer.
At other times or from other airports an individual taxi service can be provided at an additional charge. Airport meals are not provided.
Students must arrive / depart on published course dates.
